Ingredients

As I list them in the video description.

Filling

  • 2 medium cabbages, preferably light ones
  • ½ kg ground beef
  • 225 g rice
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 tbsp margarine
  • ½ tsp allspice
  • Salt to taste

For cooking

  • 2 tbsp mint
  • 1 tbsp citric acid (lemon salt)
  • 2 heads of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • A stone and a plate that fits inside the pot

How it's made, in short

  1. Core the cabbage and blanch it in salted water to loosen the leaves.
  2. Remove the tough rib from each leaf.
  3. Mix the meat with the rice, oil, margarine, tomato paste, allspice and salt; loosen with a little water.
  4. Fill and roll the leaves, and arrange them in layers in the pot.
  5. Add the cooking ingredients and water, cover with a plate and a stone, and cook on very low heat for 45 minutes to an hour.
